National Instruments cRIO ECAT S C Series EtherCAT Interface Module

The cRIO ECAT S is an EtherCAT Interface Module from the C Series. KUNBUS and National Instruments (NI) are the producers of the cRIO ECAT S module. The cRIO ECAT S is provided with the NI part number 784041-01. The NI cRIO ECAT S module can function with CompactRIO systems. The cRIO ECAT S can be programmed by using LabVIEW FPGA. The primary purpose of the NI cRIO ECAT S is to convert CompactRIO systems to an acquiescent slave module to be integrated and used with EtherCAT networks.  

The cRIO ECAT S EtherCAT Interface Module features two Ethernet ports. These Ethernet ports enable daisy chaining for multiple EtherCAT slave devices, thereby expanding the overall number of channels. This feature enables the NI cRIO ECAT S module to be used for several applications that require high-speed functioning but with a smaller processor. The cRIO ECAT S can take up to 1024 Bytes of input data and can transfer up to 1024 Bytes of output data via the Ethernet ports. The NI cRIO ECAT S module features a cycle time of 100 µS. The cRIO ECAT S is also supported with EtherCAT SYNC0 synchronization mode.

The National Instruments cRIO ECAT S EtherCAT Interface Module requires an external power supply of 24 V. The cRIO ECAT S module can handle the input voltage in the range of 18 – 30 V. Additionally, the NI cRIO ECAT S can withstand an overvoltage up to 60 V at the input port. During operation, the cRIO ECAT S consumes 31 mW power in active mode.
